We want everyone to be able to use this site. Here is what we target, what is currently supported, and how to reach us if something is not working for you.
Our Commitment
Own It With Alex is committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We design and build this site with the intent to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time fix. We audit, update, and improve the site regularly as standards evolve, as we add new content, and as we receive feedback from visitors and assistive technology users.
What We Implement
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, including a visible skip-to-content link for screen reader and keyboard users.
Semantic HTML
Pages use proper heading order, landmark regions, descriptive link text, and form labels so assistive technology can announce content correctly.
Alt Text
Meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images use an empty alt attribute so screen readers skip them.
Color Contrast
Text color combinations are chosen to meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
Responsive Design
Layouts reflow cleanly across screen sizes and honor user zoom up to 200% without content loss.
Focus Indicators
Interactive elements show a visible focus ring when navigated with a keyboard so users can track their position on the page.
Supported Technologies
This site is tested with current versions of the following browsers and assistive technologies:
- Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop
- Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android
- NVDA and JAWS on Windows with Chrome or Firefox
- VoiceOver on macOS with Safari
- VoiceOver on iOS with Safari
- TalkBack on Android with Chrome
Older browsers may not render or announce content as intended. We recommend keeping your browser and assistive technology up to date.
Known Limitations
No site is perfect, and we are upfront about areas where we are still improving:
- Third-party embeds (MLS search, analytics) are built by outside vendors and may not meet the same accessibility standards as the rest of the site.
- Some decorative visual effects (gradients, overlays) may render differently in high-contrast mode.
- Older content added before this statement may not yet meet current AA standards. We are working through the archive.
